PICNIC IN THE PARK - FAQs
When, Where & What Time?
Picnic in the Park takes place on the 2nd September 2023 at the Brooklands Playing Field (behind the British Legion), Sutton, Ely, Cambs. CB6 2QQ.
The gates open to the public at 2:30pm with the first group, THE ATOMICS (which you really don’t want to miss!) at 3pm. The last group, THE CASUALS (which you also don’t want to miss, nor any of the amazing singers & bands inbetween) will finish at approximately 9pm. All being well the event will close with some fireworks which will last approx. 10 mins.
Where can I get tickets & how much?
Admission is on the gate only. There are no advance tickets.
Admission prices are Adults £8, Under 18’s £4 and Under 5’s FOC
You can pay with cash or card.
Please Note: All Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
What type of Live Music is there?
As always we have a varied music line-up. Normally we would start off a bit mellow and get a bit louder towards the end. This year there is a slight departure in that we start of with a bang, then get a bit more mellow, building up towards an explosive finale with our last group, and all being well a few fireworks to finish.
In order from start to finish we have, THE ATOMICS, LAUREN SOPHIA, TERRI LEAVEY, THE OFF_BEATS and THE CASUALS.
Will there be Fireworks?
Yes. It is our intention to finish Picnic in the Park with a firework display which will last approx. 5 mins.
There is a small chance that this may not go ahead but all being well it should.
If we have to cancel the fireworks it would most likely be due to the weather conditions, too dry, too wet, too windy etc. Safety is paramount.
If there are very few people attending the event (less than 150) we reserve the right to cancel the fireworks. If this is the case the fireworks will be used at our Firework Display in November.
What is the “Festival Tent”
New to PICNIC in the PARK is our “FESTIVAL TENT” for Under 18’s only.
It is an Adult Free Zone, an exclusive area for anyone under 18, kitted out with bubbles and disco lights, for you to grab yourself a Mocktail and chill out. You can even play your own music, dance, chat & enjoy.
Get together with your friends and celebrate the end of your exams.
Under 18’s will have Yellow wristbands (different colour to the Oldies) which allows access to the Festival Tent.
Can I have my face painted?
Yes, once again Facepainting is provided FOC. Although primarily aimed at the Under18’s adults can also have their face painted. Adults may wish to give a donation.
You can also purchase Henna Tattoo’s. Please Note these are NOT provided FOC.
What about food?
You are welcome to bring your own food or purchase a variety of hot food, once again supplied by fabulous people at Sutton Scouts. Cakes are also available from the Church tent.
PLEASE NOTE: Hot Food will stop being served at 8pm - so if you're hungry please purchase your hot food well before 8pm.
What about drink?
Again you are welcome to bring your own, alternatively you can purchase beer & cider from the on-site REAL ALE BAR and other alcoholic or soft drinks from the British Legion Bar which is open to the public throughout the event.
Mocktails are also available from just outside the Festival Tent.
Tea & Coffee are available from the Church Tent.
We would advise you not to bring glass onto the site. If you do and it gets broken please inform a member of staff. The field is used on a regular basis for football and therefore we wouldn’t want any broken glass left on the grass.
This is a family event – please drink sensibly.
Are there Toilets on site.
Toilets are located in the British Legion Building.
Can I leave the event and return later?
Yes, providing you are wearing your wristband. You will be given a wristband upon entry, please wear it at all times during the event. This way you will be allowed re-entry.
Anyone not wearing a wristband may be asked to leave or pay the admission fee.
Can I bring pets / animals?
Sorry No. Pets and animals are not allowed. The exception to this is assistance dogs.
What Should I Wear
Well that’s entirely up to you and probably depends on the weather. We would advise to bring something a bit warmer for later as it can get a bit chilly in the evening once the sun has set (around 7:45pm).
Can I take and will the Organisers be taking photographs / videos?
You are welcome to take photographs and videos for your own personal use. If you intend to use any photographs or videos for commercial use, please contact the Sutton Feast Committee before the event.
If you publish any photographs or videos on Social Media all we ask is that that they portray the event in a positive way. We reserve the right to request any negative media is removed.
The Sutton Feast Committee will also be taking photographs and vidoes and these may well be published on the Internet and Social Media. Please be aware these photographs and videos may show children (enjoying themselves).
Parking
As this is a local family event we would encourage people to walk where possible.
There is very little parking at Picnic in the Park. There is a very small number of parking spaces in the car park between the School and the British Legion. Please note the first two rows of parking spaces will be reserved for residents of the British Legion (not members) and for disabled parking. If you do need to drive and park, there is street parking in the local vicinity. Please park sensibly and don’t block entrances, driveways etc. and always make sure there is enough room for emergency vehicles if required. We would advise not to park on The Brook as this is a very busy road.
